BRANDY GALE Following in the footsteps of Canadian landscape painters of the past, I travel to a location and paint constantly what is at hand, on the spot -- forests, seascapes, beaches, falling snow, birds in the bush, and the odd mountain, with the wind and sound and tastes and smells whirling around me. Incorporating mark-making, patterns, abstraction, symbols, and expressive colour while working in the field assists my pursuit of a direct, demonstrative, unreserved body of work. There is power, joy and physical challenge in painting outdoors, and I look forward to sharing the results with you at my Rednersville studio! |
