Wood turnings, such as miniatures and hand-quilted crib quilts are a samples of the treasures available at Jan and Harvey Tremeer’s site. The Tremeers are also original founding members.
Harvey states: “When it comes to miniatures, one has to think differently. The standard scale for dollhouse miniatures is 1:12 ( 1 inch = 1 foot), so think tiny. Some miniaturists will piece a miniature quilt, but this is extremely time consuming. When one can find a printed fabric, for which we are always watching, where a quilt block is approximately 1 inch square, it can be hand quilted to make a tiny quilt. When turning miniature pieces, most chisels are far too big. If small ones are not available, suitable ones have to be hand made. I have made some by grinding discarded dental tools to the appropriate shape. Most wood turned pieces are from repurposed wood.”
