The standard scale in the miniaturists’ world is 1:12 or 1 inch :1 foot, althought there are some who work in half scale (1: 24). Think tiny. The large carpet is an oriental design. The centre carpet is based on a design by William Morris, for Morris and Company, circa 1880. The smallest carpet is a Kuba design from the Caucasus area, immediately west of the Caspian Sea. All carpets are worked on 30 count silk gauze (900 stitches per square inch) with either embroidery floss or crewel wool. All wood pieces are individually turned on my small wood lathe.
