Karen will admit she started off as a ‘self-taught’ mosaic artist.

It didn’t take long before she wanted to refine her skills. Over the years she has apprenticed with an accomplished mosaicist and has taken classes with a Canadian, Award Winning Mosaic Artist and The Santa Barbara School of Mosaics – MosaicArtsOnline.

Karen’s mosaics explore traditional and picassiette style. Her art constantly evolves with her use of traditional mosaic glasses, stained glass, stone. Her attraction to repurposed materials emerges and recycled materials find their way into most of her artworks. Her intricate, unique pieces feature imagination and possibilities. Karen characterizes her art as the intuitive application of patience and concentration united with the joy of creating.

In November 2021 Karen and her mosaic art were the subject of a short documentary produced by students of the TV & Media Design – Media Studies program at Loyalist College, Belleville ON. This documentary titled ‘A Piece of Peace’ was then selected to be part of the March 2022 Belleville DocFest.

Karen is a guest member of the Rednersville Road Art Tour and an award winning member of the Belleville Art Association. Her art can be found at the BAA gallery, Belleville, and the Parrott Gallery, Belleville Library gift shop.
