Karen is a guest member of the Rednersville Road Art Tour and an award-winning member of the Belleville Art Association. Her art can be found at the BAA Gallery, Belleville and the Parrott Gallery, Belleville Library gift shop.
She is a self-taught modern mosaicist who has refined her skills by apprenticing and with award-winning mosaic artists and studying with Santa Barbara School of Mosaics – MosaicArtsOnline.
Karen’s mosaics explore traditional and picassiette style. It consistently evolves with her use of traditional mosaic glasses, stained glass, stone. Often her attraction to repurposed materials emerges and recycled materials such as china and metals find their way into her artworks.
Her intricate, unique pieces feature imagination and possibilities. Karen characterizes her art as the intuitive application of patience and concentration united with the joy of creating.
In November 2021 Karen and her mosaic art were the subjects of a short documentary produced by students of the TV & Media Design – Media Studies program at Loyalist College, Belleville ON. For a limited period of time, the documentary may be viewed at: https://katieburns8.wixsite.com
