Artist Statement –

Sandy is a photographer whose work captures moody, serene moments in scenes ranging from old buildings and lighthouses to nature and abstract compositions. Her photographs are more than mere snapshots; they are meticulously crafted canvases enhanced through post-processing in Lightroom and Photoshop. She is particularly drawn to subjects with weathered textures or haunting allure, such as abandoned sites and timeless lighthouses, and delights in capturing serendipitous moments in nature and wildlife photography.

Sandy is constantly exploring the intersection of classic and experimental techniques, employing various filters for long exposures and mastering the art of Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) photography. She invests time in studying other photographers to broaden her creative horizons, all while pursuing an emotional connection in her work through dark skies and heavy clouds. Sandy is also keen on learning how to incorporate photography with encaustic painting, opening new avenues for creative expression.

Each photograph is a personal journey for Sandy, beginning with the capture of an intriguing scene and culminating in a carefully crafted vision. This process defines her art, contributing to the moody, serene quality that sets her work apart.
